Paul fully renovated Laguna Golf Phuket to increase sustainability and solve drainage problems. The total sand area was reduced by more than 50% with the number of bunkers reducing to from 100 to 37. Sustainability was key to the renovation with a reduction of the grassed area, sprinkler count reduction from 1,200 down to 700, a lower input requiring turf, and the enhancement and enlargement of wetlands. Furthermore, the ground was shaped to assist with drainage to promote the ground game to promote and create strategic interest. The project was awarded as the best renovation project at the 2015 Asian Golf Awards and has gone on to win numerous awards since.
